El realizador audiovisual Sherif Mokbel del <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/THEDPJOURNEY\" target=\"_blank\">canal de Youtube The DP Journey<\/a> realiz\u00f3 un interesante video comparativo. Pero antes de echarle un vistazo, me gustar\u00eda ofrecer brevemente una introducci\u00f3n a los diferentes formatos de video, como informaci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ten en cuenta que, a los efectos de este art\u00edculo, no profundizar\u00e9 demasiado en el aspecto t\u00e9cnico de los c\u00f3decs de v\u00eddeo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Los fundamentos: diferentes formatos de video<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Al grabar un video, adem\u00e1s de elegir la resoluci\u00f3n y la velocidad de fotogramas deseadas, los realizadores audiovisuales tambi\u00e9n deben elegir el c\u00f3dec en el que se grabar\u00e1 el video. Esto afectar\u00e1 el tama\u00f1o del archivo, as\u00ed como su flexibilidad en la postproducci\u00f3n, sobre todo la gradaci\u00f3n de color. Generalmente, los c\u00f3decs comprimidos son interframe (solo cambia una parte de cada cuadro, el resto se calcula) o intraframe (cada cuadro contiene todos los p\u00edxeles) y luego est\u00e1n los formatos raw (comprimidos o sin comprimir).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La mayor\u00eda de las c\u00e1maras de consumidor (incluidos los drones, los tel\u00e9fonos inteligentes y las c\u00e1maras de acci\u00f3n) todav\u00eda tienen alg\u00fan tipo de c\u00f3dec H.264 o H.265 comprimido 4:2:0 LongGOP (GOP: &#8220;group of pictures&#8221;, o interframe) de 8 bits, pero Los formatos de 10 bits 4:2:0 o 4:2:2 tambi\u00e9n se est\u00e1n introduciendo en m\u00e1s y m\u00e1s modelos. Una desventaja de este formato es que demanda mucho almacenamiento para trabajar con proyectos filmados en CinemaDNG. La versi\u00f3n sin comprimir es ESPECIALMENTE PESADA y es casi imposible de manejar en escenarios de filmaci\u00f3n de la vida real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La situaci\u00f3n del video RAW comprimido<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Finalmente, los formatos raw comprimidos ofrecen lo mejor de ambos mundos. Su objetivo es combinar una alta flexibilidad para la gradaci\u00f3n de color con tama\u00f1os de archivo razonables. Actualmente hay m\u00e1s formatos: uno de ellos es el c\u00f3dec R3D REDCODE RAW de RED que, obviamente, solo est\u00e1 disponible en las c\u00e1maras RED. Este c\u00f3dec en particular es importante para comprender la situaci\u00f3n actual con la disponibilidad de c\u00f3decs raw comprimidos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>comprimida dentro de una c\u00e1mara en general. Una de las consecuencias de este patentamiento es que todas las empresas de c\u00e1maras que quieran incluir un formato raw comprimido en sus productos primero deben solicitar un permiso a RED que, si se otorga, conlleva ciertos costos (llam\u00e9moslo una tarifa de licencia). Fuente: The DP Journey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hay dos formatos en particular que se est\u00e1n volviendo cada vez m\u00e1s populares en la actualidad: ProRes RAW y Blackmagic RAW (tambi\u00e9n conocido como BRAW). El primero es el nuevo formato de Apple introducido en 2018 que se basa en formatos ProRes m\u00e1s antiguos, pero proporciona una imagen sin degradar con metadatos para una mayor flexibilidad en la postproducci\u00f3n. B\u00e1sicamente, la \u00fanica compa\u00f1\u00eda que actualmente fabrica productos que pueden grabar ProRes RAW es Atomos, lo que significa que solo puedes grabarlo externamente usando algunas de sus grabadoras. Han estado incluyendo el formato en sus grabadoras desde hace algunos a\u00f1os y cada vez m\u00e1s c\u00e1maras pueden enviar se\u00f1al RAW al  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/1401565-REG\/atomos_atomnjav01_ninja_v_5_4k.html\/BI\/7953\/KBID\/8488\/\" class=\"content-keyword-linked\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Atomos Ninja V<\/a> o Atomos Shogun y, por lo tanto, grabar externamente en ProRes RAW. ProRes RAW es, por definici\u00f3n, un c\u00f3dec raw comprimido real. Atomos puede incluir ProRes RAW en sus productos porque aparentemente hicieron un acuerdo con RED, pero el p\u00fablico no conoce los detalles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El segundo formato, BRAW, fue creado por Blackmagic Design para su uso en sus c\u00e1maras y grabadoras. De hecho, no es un c\u00f3dec raw comprimido real, ya que ha sufrido un proceso parcial de debayer en la c\u00e1mara (o grabadora). Sin embargo, todav\u00eda incluye todos los metadatos \u00fatiles para cambiar el ISO, el balance de blancos, etc, m\u00e1s adelante en la postproducci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Comparaci\u00f3n de BRAW versus ProRes RAW<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambos c\u00f3decs se han vuelto muy populares \u00faltimamente, ya que ofrecen una mayor flexibilidad que los formatos de video comprimido tradicionales, y se incluyen en c\u00e1maras y grabadoras asequibles (a diferencia de la mayor\u00eda de las c\u00e1maras RED o ARRI, por ejemplo). Sherif Mokbel es un realizador audiovisual y fot\u00f3grafo con base en Nueva York que dirige un interesante canal de Youtube llamado <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/THEDPJOURNEY\" target=\"_blank\">The DP Journey<\/a>. En uno de sus videos recientes, decidi\u00f3 comparar los formatos BRAW y ProRes RAW con su c\u00e1mara Panasonic LUMIX S1H (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cined.com\/es\/panasonic-s1h-lab-test-dynamic-range-and-rolling-shutter-results\/\" target=\"_blank\">chequea nuestra Prueba de Laboratorio aqu\u00ed<\/a>). Fuente: The DP Journey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de comparar BRAW y ProRes RAW en la Panasonic S1H, Sherif tambi\u00e9n compar\u00f3 el BRAW de la S1H (y Video Assist 12G) con el BRAW de las c\u00e1maras Blackmagic. Existen algunas diferencias, por ejemplo, el balance de blancos basado en metadatos no funciona correctamente en el combo S1H-VA, pero funciona bien en c\u00e1maras Blackmagic en BRAW. Por lo tanto, no es tan f\u00e1cil arreglar el balance de blancos incorrecto en la S1H en BRAW, pero igual es m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil de hacer que con el c\u00f3dec comprimido interno. Fuente: The DP Journey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ruido y detalles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sherif tambi\u00e9n &#8220;profundiza&#8221; en c\u00f3mo cada formato conserva los detalles en el ruido de la imagen. Una vez m\u00e1s, ProRes RAW le gan\u00f3 al Blackmagic RAW: es m\u00e1s ruidoso, pero conserva m\u00e1s detalles en dicho ruido. No hay reducci\u00f3n de ruido en absoluto en el caso de ProRes RAW. Con BRAW, dado que hay un proceso de debayer en la c\u00e1mara \/ grabadora, tambi\u00e9n elimina parte del ruido junto con algunos detalles finos en la imagen. Fuente: The DP Journey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusi\u00f3n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En pocas palabras, la comparaci\u00f3n de Sherif demuestra que ProRes RAW es el mejor de estos dos c\u00f3decs cuando se trata de preservar la calidad de la imagen. Sin embargo, uno de sus mayores problemas es que no es compatible con el software de gradaci\u00f3n de color m\u00e1s popular: DaVinci Resolve. Blackmagic RAW, por otro lado, ofrece mejores resultados que el c\u00f3dec comprimido interno, y claro, funciona muy bien en Resolve. Esto afectar\u00e1 el tama\u00f1o del archivo, as\u00ed como su flexibilidad en la postproducci\u00f3n, sobre todo la gradaci\u00f3n de color. La versi\u00f3n sin comprimir es ESPECIALMENTE PESADA y es casi imposible de manejar en escenarios de filmaci\u00f3n de la vida real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La situaci\u00f3n del video RAW comprimido<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Finalmente, los formatos raw comprimidos ofrecen lo mejor de ambos mundos. Su objetivo es combinar una alta flexibilidad para la gradaci\u00f3n de color con tama\u00f1os de archivo razonables. Actualmente hay m\u00e1s formatos: uno de ellos es el c\u00f3dec R3D REDCODE RAW de RED que, obviamente, solo est\u00e1 disponible en las c\u00e1maras RED. Este c\u00f3dec en particular es importante para comprender la situaci\u00f3n actual con la disponibilidad de c\u00f3decs raw comprimidos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>comprimida dentro de una c\u00e1mara en general. El primero es el nuevo formato de Apple introducido en 2018 que se basa en formatos ProRes m\u00e1s antiguos, pero proporciona una imagen sin degradar con metadatos para una mayor flexibilidad en la postproducci\u00f3n. B\u00e1sicamente, la \u00fanica compa\u00f1\u00eda que actualmente fabrica productos que pueden grabar ProRes RAW es Atomos, lo que significa que solo puedes grabarlo externamente usando algunas de sus grabadoras. Han estado incluyendo el formato en sus grabadoras desde hace algunos a\u00f1os y cada vez m\u00e1s c\u00e1maras pueden enviar se\u00f1al RAW al  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/1401565-REG\/atomos_atomnjav01_ninja_v_5_4k.html\/BI\/7953\/KBID\/8488\/\" class=\"content-keyword-linked\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Atomos Ninja V<\/a> o Atomos Shogun y, por lo tanto, grabar externamente en ProRes RAW. ProRes RAW es, por definici\u00f3n, un c\u00f3dec raw comprimido real. Atomos puede incluir ProRes RAW en sus productos porque aparentemente hicieron un acuerdo con RED, pero el p\u00fablico no conoce los detalles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El segundo formato, BRAW, fue creado por Blackmagic Design para su uso en sus c\u00e1maras y grabadoras. Sherif Mokbel es un realizador audiovisual y fot\u00f3grafo con base en Nueva York que dirige un interesante canal de Youtube llamado <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/THEDPJOURNEY\" target=\"_blank\">The DP Journey<\/a>. Existen algunas diferencias, por ejemplo, el balance de blancos basado en metadatos no funciona correctamente en el combo S1H-VA, pero funciona bien en c\u00e1maras Blackmagic en BRAW. Una vez m\u00e1s, ProRes RAW le gan\u00f3 al Blackmagic RAW: es m\u00e1s ruidoso, pero conserva m\u00e1s detalles en dicho ruido. No hay reducci\u00f3n de ruido en absoluto en el caso de ProRes RAW. Con BRAW, dado que hay un proceso de debayer en la c\u00e1mara \/ grabadora, tambi\u00e9n elimina parte del ruido junto con algunos detalles finos en la imagen. Sin embargo, uno de sus mayores problemas es que no es compatible con el software de gradaci\u00f3n de color m\u00e1s popular: DaVinci Resolve. Blackmagic RAW, por otro lado, ofrece mejores resultados que el c\u00f3dec comprimido interno, y claro, funciona muy bien en Resolve.
