Godox TL60 Introduced – RGB Tube Light with DMX

Godox has introduced a new RGB tube light, the TL60. It is exactly what you think it is: A tube-shaped LED light with full RGB controls, DMX support and a whole bunch of lighting effects built-in. So let’s have a closer look at this light!

Godox is known for making high-quality lighting equipment for the budget-minded photographer and filmmaker. This new TL60 RGB tube light is no exception, and seems like a great choice if you need more than a one-trick pony when it comes to creatively lighting a scene.

One TL60 unit is about 750mm long and it weights just over 700g. One light is battery-powered (14.4V/2600mAh – good for approx 2hrs at 100%) but you can use it while it’s plugged in as well. Godox claims the TL60 tube light sports a CRI of 96 and a TLCI of 98. The unit only draws around 18W of power which is prettty impressive.

I think it’s nice to have on-board controls instead of just relying on an app or DMX. The menu system does seem a bit fiddly, but I’m sure it’s relatively easy to master when working with these fixtures.

When the light is out of reach, you can control the TL60 via Bluetooth, the app, a dedicated 2.4G remote or via DMX. If you use the app, you can access a dedicated color picker or choose from an vast library of predefined gels.

Additional features

The Godox Light app is available for both iOS and Android users. All the modes, including effects, CCT (2700K – 6500K), HSI, RGB and gel mode (Rosco and Lee) can be accessed and controlled via the app. Using the phone’s camera, you can pick a color in your surroundings and the TL60 will match it.

The Godox TL60 tube light can be purchased in three different kits: A single light, 2 lights or a pack of 4 lights. Each kit comes with dedicated accessories and a bag. Since these RGB lights are very useful for creating lighting effects or even to act as some sort of practical lights in shot, maybe a kit is the better choice here than just getting a single light.

Specifications and pricing

Since RGB LED lights seem to be fully fledged now, most of these specs are quite common, but it’s still nice to see budget-friendly light sources offer this amount of neat features.
