Once you get going with a decent camera, a few lights, and even a bunch of (audio) accessories, you may find yourself in a situation where you need to record not just one audio track, but multiple sources at once.
How do you do that and what equipment is best for the job? Well, there are of course plenty of solutions to this problem, so in this list we’ve put together a selection of fairly affordable, yet very capable standalone mixers/recorders. These devices typically accept two, four, or even more individual audio sources.
You can then adjust and mix them and record the resulting audio onto some sort of media, usually an SD card. Since audio files are typically quite manageable compared to video files, SD cards are more than sufficient.

The H4n Pro is outfitted with an onboard stereo microphone that provides clear, phase-accurate capture in two different X/Y positions—90° for a tight stereo image or 120° for a wider perspective. Equipped with two locking XLR-1/4" combo inputs and a 3.5mm stereo mini-jack input, the H4n Pro can accommodate condenser microphones, line-level sources, or unbalanced instrument-level signals. Turn on 24 or 48 VDC phantom power to the XLR jacks, or 2.5V plug-in power to the mini jack.
