Kolude is a company based in Shenzhen, China, that designs electronic and non-electronic accessories, mostly for Apple products. Their new product Kolude KD-K1 Keyhub all-in-one keyboard is currently being promoted on Kickstarter. It has been financed in only 12 hours and till today over 1,000 backers pledged over $136,000. The Kolude KD-K1 is based on a scissor-switch keyboard with an aluminum body and it features a built-in hub with convenient ports and connections. The keyboard has plastic rounded keycaps and plastic inner bones.
The Kolude keyboard hub uses the USB-C data port and USB-C PD charging port, which is compatible with 18-100w charging. It features three USB-A 3.0 and one USB-A 2.0 interfaces, supporting data transmission. The USB 3.0 is downward compatible with all USB-A 3.0 and 2.0 products. Furthermore, the keyboard offers SD and MicroSD card slots and one HDMI 4K/30Hz port.
The keyboard offers a 2-zone range, covering the most useful key functions and shortcuts (such as screenshot, copy, cut, paste and home) as well as exclusive keyboard shortcuts.
While the Keyhub Keyboard is specially designed for Apple users, it also works with select Windows and Android devices. The USB Type-C connection works with MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac Pro, iPad Pro, Mac Pro 2019, Mac Mini, or Pro Display XDR. It also works with other USB-C port-enabled laptops and computers.
The Kolude Keyhub layout supports English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Taiwanese/Hong Kong Cangjie, Japanese, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese and Korean languages. The Kolude team said they are exploring more supported languages and countries to include in the future.
The Super Early Bird offer for $99 for one keyboard is already sold out. The rewards start currently at $109 for one keyboard or at $178 for two units. According to Kolude, the full retail price will be $170. Additionally, the worldwide freight cost for each Kolude Keyhub is $15. For the two-pieces reward, it is $30.
Users can choose from different colors and keyboard language layouts. Each Keyhub will come with a free USB Type-C cable. Shipping is supposed to start in June 2020. It seems the company already has finished the development of the product and they are about to start production.
