Manfrotto recently released a new CFexpress Type-B card reader to complement their 128 and 256GB cards. The reader features a USB 3.2 Type-C interface for fast media offloading. Thanks to its aluminum construction, it can also serve as a memory card case. The reader is now available for $54.99.
The blazingly-fast CFexpress Type-B cards have quickly become a widely adopted standard among modern camera manufacturers. Even a company like Manfrotto, famous for producing camera support equipment, launched their own branded CFexpress Type-B cards back in 2020.
Their two cards, which offer read and write speeds of respectively 1540MB/s and 1730MB/s, now have a new companion. In fact, the company recently released a new CFexpress Type-B card reader. Let’s take a closer look.
The Manfrotto CFexpress Type-B has a 10Gb/s USB 3.2 Type-C interface that should ensure fast media offloading on the field. Nowadays, this is an essential feature to quickly download large high-resolution RAW stills and 8K videos.
Moreover, the unit has a plug-and-play design: this means it doesn’t require any driver installation nor power supply.
This “new” Manfrotto card reader is most likely just a rebranding of the already-available Delkin Devices model. In fact, they share exactly the same design.
The reader features anodized aluminum construction that makes it sturdy, durable, and compact overall. Moreover, several heat sinks all over the alloy protect the unit from overheating during operation.
An interesting feature of this reader is its top rubber cap: this can be closed to safely store a CFexpress card inside when you are on the go.
This Manfrotto CFexpress Type-B card reader is now available for purchase from Manfrotto’s website. It shares the same price as the Delkin Devices model: $54.99. Inside the box, you will get a USB-C to USB-A cable as well as a USB-C-only option.
Does your camera rely on the CFexpress Type-B standard? What do you think of this rebranding by Manfrotto? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
