SmallRig, known for its rigging accessories, presents the P200 Bi-Color LED Light Panel, which suits smaller lighting requirements for content creators. The iPad-sized light panel is available in two versions- the US version retails for only $65.99 and the universal P200 for $10 less at only $55.99. Let’s have a closer look at these LED light panels!
More and more manufacturers who were previously known for other products are now branching out into different areas within our industry. Gimbal manufacturer ZHIYUN is making small LED lights and announced a range called MOLUS. Z CAM started a lighting brand called ZOLAR (here’s our review) and SmallRig is making lights on top of its rigging accessories.
We have seen similar LED light solutions in the past, but this one comes at an undeniably more affordable price. It has a compact design of 25,4×17,5×1,8cm / 10×6,9x07in, outputs 180Lux / 16fc at a distance of 1m / 3.3in, and draws just 15W. That is not much, but it should suffice for lighting a small indoor scene with one person. For live streaming, video conferences, interviews, vlogging, and photo and video sessions, the P200 could come in quite handy.
The light panel has 192 LEDs (96 warm and 96 cold white) in one fixture, with variable colors from 2500 to 6500K and a high CRI/TLCI rating of 98. There are nine lighting effects available for your diverse needs. However, regrettably, there isn’t any detailed information available on what kind of fancy lighting effects one can expect with the P200.
SmallRig also promotes a rather tempting feature where one can click the “beauty-on” button on the rear side. This feature personalizes and stores your most recent settings. It is not clear if it can also deliver real “beauty” afterward, but for certain content creators, this magic button could be a real selling point. It has a small LCD screen with two buttons to adjust the color temperature and the light intensity.
The P200 offers multiple power options for both indoor and outdoor use. Just keep in mind that such a small light with a low light output is not really designed to work outdoors. It includes an 18W power adapter with a 12cm / 4.9in long USB-C charging cable. It can also run on a separately available NP-F battery for an extended runtime of up to 3,8 hours. For more versatility, you could run the LED light panel from a battery indoors for a longer time, if you don’t want to deal with cables.
The USB-C port supports a separately available power bank or SmallRig Mini V-Mount batteries. The panel’s three 1/4″-20 threaded holes are compatible with optional supports and the P200 can be mounted in an upright position when you are streaming for social media in a 9:16 format.
When ordering a SmallRig P200 Bi-Color LED Light Panel, note the correct version for your part of the world. There is a US version and a universal one that is designed for worldwide use.
