During NAB 2023, Angelbird released the very first 1TB CFexpress Type A cards, which can be used with the latest Sony cameras. We caught up with Roman Rabitsch from Angelbird to talk about the new CFexpress card.
Angelbird just released a 1TB CFexpress Type A memory card (see our news article), especially aimed at video shooters using Sony cameras. Since high frame rates and high resolutions in these cameras amount to a lot of data very quickly, the new card can be a perfect fit. The AV PRO card can record at a maximum of 730 MB/s which is way faster than current cameras can record, and read at a maximum speed of 820 MB/s.
Alongside the new CFexpress Type A cards, Angelbird also released a new card reader for Type A cards, which has the exact same footprint and connectivity as their existing card readers for SD, CFast, and CFexpress Type B cards. You can also use CFexpress Type A cards from other vendors with this card reader.
For the recently announced Media Tank, which is a card safe for several memory card types, Angelbird now also offers inserts that are perfectly shaped for CFexpress Type A cards. You can also order the Media Tank with the Type A inserts already installed.
The price of these cards is relatively affordable, compared to other cards that were available until now. Angelbird has a philosophy that their cards should be priced fairly in relation to the investment of the camera. The price per Gigabyte is 50 cents which amount to $499.99 for this 1TB card.
The AV PRO CFexpress Type A card, the Type A card reader, and the Media Tank are already available.
You can find more information about the new Angelbird CFexpress Type A products on the Angelbird website.
