German battery manufacturer bebob has just released two new hot-swappable B-Mount batteries: the B90cineML and B155cineML. These 86Wh and 156Wh 14.4/28.8V dual-voltage batteries feature one twist D-Tap, one USB-C port, and a five-stage LED display. So, let’s take a closer look at these!
The B-Mount battery standard was introduced in 2019, co-developed by bebob and ARRI, and was first implemented with the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF. This new battery standard was designed to be as versatile as possible, as the batteries and mount support both 14.4V and 28.8V voltages and can be used to power 12V and 24V devices. Also, the side-sliding design and locking mechanism provide a stable and secure platform for powering camera equipment. However, five years later, the well-known V-Mount/Gold-Mount are still industry-standard, and B-Mount hasn’t really caught up yet.
Last year, bebob introduced the B480CINE with a massive 475Wh capacity. Traveling on airplanes with batteries with a capacity of over 160Wh is restricted, and you can only take two batteries with you with a capacity between 101 and 160Wh. The German battery manufacturer developed two new B-Mount battery models to solve this traveling issue: the B90cineML and B155cineML.
The bebob B90cineML has a capacity of 86Wh, measures 9.4 x 14.4 x 4.7cm/3.7 x 5.6 x 1.8in, and weighs 662g/23.3oz. The more prominent B155cineML model has a capacity of 156Wh and is 9.4 x 14.4 x 6.6cm/3.7 x 5.6 x 2.6in, weighing 1.04kg/35.4oz.
Except for the weight/size/capacity, both batteries share the same functionalities, including:
As the B90cineML and B155cineML are hot-swappable batteries, you can connect multiple batteries in series. According to bebob, the batteries “automatically take over the power supply to the camera and the D-Tap connection as soon as the connected battery is empty.” Furthermore, you can charge the batteries via a traditional B-Mount charger or use a plugged-in battery.
Last but not least, as with all bebob batteries, the cells can be replaced if performance declines after several years of use.
The bebob B90cineML retails for €769/$849, while the bigger B155cineML is €879/$969. Both models are available now.
