Dave Aldrich from D Focus asked us to come down to Santa Barbara and help out with a hang gliding camera rig he designed. He is working on a film about hang gliding and wanted to try mounting a Canon Rebel T2i to his rig. Dave is also a hang glider pilot. He sponsors Zac Majors, one of the top pilots in the world.
I grabbed a Canon Rebel T2i and slapped a Tokina 11-16mm Zoom with a Schneider polarizer and off we went. The rig was just a simple arm with a ball mount head attached to the front of the hang glider. I decided to use the “Landscape” Picture Style on the camera to get as much as possible out of the sky and surrounding terrain.
Chris Collins shot “B” cam and cut this bad boy together. Dave shot some of the landing footage with a Canon Rebel T2i and 70-200mm f4 zoom. It was a really fun day of shooting. Zac is one of the coolest people I have ever met.
A big Thank You to Dave Aldrich for asking us to join this adventure.
