The film community can be a tight knit bunch and it is great to see a cause worth coming together for and supporting from cinematographer and prolific blogger, Philip Bloom. For the ninth year in a row, Bloom is helping to lead the charge for Movember, an event aimed at raising money for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.  Find out how you can help below:Â

According to Cancer Research UK and Cancer.net, prostate cancer especially is the second leading cause of cancer death for men in the United States and 1 in 9 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime globally.
Bloom himself was touched by the disease with the death of his Grandfather and the diagnosis of his uncle, who has since recovered because it was caught early enough. Watch the below video to learn more about Prostate cancer, Movember, Bloom’s motivations for this campaign and why this cause is so important:
Over the lifetime of his Movember campaigns, Bloom has raised over $200,000. If you donate, you are automatically entered into a prize giveaway, with a chance at winning sliders, a Helix Jr. gimbal and a variety of great lights, to name a few.
There is also a film competition, with different prizes from the giveaway. Here is the concept: “Recreate a scene from a well-known movie but moustachio it up… how you do that and what you do is up to you. Subtle, in your face… its your choice!” For more details on the campaign, film competition and a full list of prizes visit:
