Let’s shoot a movie on this Point-and-Shoot camera!
Since Canonrumors shared some first impressions about the new Canon Powershot G1 X camera from the CES floor and reports that “the performance of ISO 12,800 is fantastic” the mouths for this new tool run wet. Apparently it is better than on a Canon 7D.
But this camera is not only interesting for photographers, this one could mean the dawn of a new era of HDSLR filmmaking tools!
With the G1 X Canon created a point-and-shoot camera that could be your new HDSLR. The sensor is almost as large as a 7D APS-C and I’m guessing they haven’t ignored the need for good aliasing and moiré performance in video. The flip out screen, low light performance, fixed lens with optical image stabilization and iFrame codec could make this an extremely affordable and useful tool for filmmakers.
The camera is already available for pre-order and is rumored to be shipped in February, Amazon says end of March:B&H – $799Amazon – $799
