Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects Updates with Frame.io Integration

Adobe has just released an update for Premiere Pro and After Effects that includes numerous new features, including Frame.io integration with 100GB of free storage for both software. Also, Premiere Pro has redesigned import/export pages and Auto Color powered by Adobe Sensei inside Lumetri. Inside After Effects, you’ll get faster performances on Apple M1 Macs and a new Scene Edit Detection feature. Let’s take a closer look at everything new!

Last year, Adobe acquired cloud reviewing company/technology Frame.io for a whopping $1.275 billion. It took Adobe a little time to fully integrate Frame.io into its Creative Cloud apps. The good news is the wait is finally over, and the latest Adobe Premiere Pro/After Effects updates offer you seamless integration between both tools. For users, this means you’ll be able to move a lot faster from shooting to delivery and final client approbation.

Frame.io integration inside Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects

The latest Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects 22.3 updates include built-in Frame.io integration. So how does this new feature work for content creators? Well, both companies made this easy:

• Login to Frame.io using your Adobe ID. No need to create a new account.
• You’ll get 100GB of Frame.io storage, free of charge, out of the box. It also works with the Camera to Cloud (C2C) feature; you can learn more about it here.
• You can drag and drop your footage/media/exports directly to the Frame.io window inside Premiere Pro to share it with collaborators and clients.

The free package for all Creative Cloud members includes up to five active projects and unlimited reviewers.

If you need more storage space or work on more projects simultaneously, you can purchase a Pro, Team, or Enterprise plan at Frame.io. If you already have such a plan at Frame.io, don’t worry; this integration inside Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects will also be seamless for you.

Adobe Premiere Pro’s new features

Also, there are a couple of changes inside Adobe Premiere Pro. First of all, the Auto Tone button inside the Lumetri Panel, which was already available in Beta versions, is available for all users. In addition, this color feature is now compatible with Log footage and replaces the Auto button inside Lumetri.

Next, you’ll find a new header bar to navigate a lot easier inside Premiere Pro with three tabs: Import, Edit, and Export. The other “traditional” workspaces like Color/Graphics/Audio are available via a customizable dropdown menu on the right-hand side.

The export tab has been redesigned to be more intuitive. In addition, you’ll find direct export presets for YouTube/Twitter/Facebook that allow you to export and upload directly to social media. Also, Premiere Pro can upload videos directly to FTP sites and social platforms, with the option to post privately for review before going live.

Adobe After Effects 22.3 update

Last but not least, Adobe After Effects 22.3 brings a couple of new features, including:

• Extended viewer: you can view 2D and 3D layers located outside a frame’s edge when using the Draft 3D engine.
• Scene Edit Detection: already available in Adobe Premiere Pro, this feature powered by Adobe Sensei automatically detects scene changes in an edited clip. Then, it’ll place them as individual layers or creates markers at edit points for faster project setup.
• Performance improvement: the latest version is up to 3 times faster on Apple M1 Macs.
