Alexa Mini Battery Plate woes? That big plate getting in the way of your card changes? Wooden Camera has solved that with a simple new product: the Wooden Camera Battery Swing.
And the “I can’t believe no one has made this before” design award goes to…. Wooden Camera! They’ve released a new Alexa Mini battery plate – the aptly-named Wooden Camera Battery Swing – that allows you to quickly rotate your battery plate 90 degrees to access the card media slot on the back of the camera. It will also work on any camera with 15mm rod system, but it will make card changes on the Alexa Mini particularly a breeze.
Anyone who’s shot on the Alexa Mini will understand the dilemma of having to change cards on a neatly-rigged camera. There’s probably a support group somewhere for nervous DITs that share their lizard hands/battery-juggling/ CFast card-bending techniques for getting the card out.
The Wooden Camera Battery Swing accepts a variety of different battery plates made by Wooden Camera for V-lock and Gold Mount battery solutions, and can be mounted in both standard and underslung configurations. It weighs 226.80g (0.5lbs) and measures 152.4 x 114.3 x 45.7 mm (6.0 x 4.5 x 1.8 in).
The Wooden Camera Battery Swing is available for preorder right now, and you can find the price and link below. It will likely be on display at NAB later this month.
Will this be a welcome addition to your Alexa Mini rig? Let us know in the comments below!
