At NAB 2023, Audio Design Desk introduced version 2.0 of their Digital Audio Workstation. Audio Design Desk 2.0 brings several new features, including an improved UI, new Auto-Mix and Stem Isolator functions, as well as integration with DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro.
Audio Design Desk is an audio post-production tool designed to make video and sound editors’ lives a little easier. With a built-in library of 70.000+ royalty-free sounds – including Foley, sound FX, and music – this AI-powered software allows you to easily edit, replace, fine-tune, mix, and export sound for video.
On the show floor at NAB 2023, my colleague Johnnie sat down with Jared Otto from Audio Design Desk for a sneak peek at the new features just added in ADD 2.0. Let’s take a quick look!
In this article, we will focus on the new features of Audio Design Desk 2.0. However, if you’re not familiar with the great potential of ADD, you can read our initial coverage here. I also highly recommend watching our NAB 2023 interview above, since Jared was kind enough to give us a live demo of how you can go from a silent to a great-sounding action sequence in just a few minutes.
Until now, Audio Design Desk was only available as a standalone app. Now, ADD 2.0 brings direct integration with some of the most popular NLEs, such as DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro. This further simplifies your audio workflow as it removes the need for tedious round-tripping.
Moreover, the company introduced a new Auto-Mix function that can come to the rescue if you’re not familiar or confident with sound mixing. All you have to do is set an audio delivery standard for your mix, then let the software do the rest. ADD will analyze the content of your timeline and automatically adjust the levels of each audio clip to match the desired loudness target.
Finally, a newly added Stem Isolation function can now isolate the voice from the background noise. As Jared demonstrates in the video, this is a great tool to clean up dialogues, but can also isolate vocals or instruments in a music track.
Audio Design Desk is available as a monthly or an annual subscription. Regardless of which option you choose, the company offers three different plans:
The Personal and Professional versions can also be purchased as a perpetual license for $299 and $599, respectively.
