For a limited amount of time, B&H has a deal on the Sony PXW-FX9, which saves you up to $1,000 on the camera body only, or $1,250 if you get the kit with the Sony 28-135mm f/4 G OSS lens. So if you’re in the market for a workhorse full-frame cinema camera capable of capturing 6K footage, let’s take a closer look at it!
The Sony PXW-FX9 was launched back in September 2019. This workhorse of a camera is a full-frame replacement of the PXW-FS7 Mark II. However, four years after its release, the FX9 is still widely used in the broadcast/corporate/ENG world and considered by many as an industry standard. Indeed, with superb 4K internal recording oversampled from the 6K image sensor, a dual base ISO of 800 and 4000, and high-speed autofocus performances, this camera can handle almost everything you throw at it. If you want to learn more about it, you can watch our hands-on review here.
Over the years, the Sony PXW-FX9 received multiple firmware updates that improved its ergonomics and added features: in-camera anamorphic de-squeeze, Touch Tracking AF, cloud workflows, and many more.
For owner-operators, the Sony PXW-FX9 is seen by many as one of the few cameras that usually offer you a solid and relatively fast return on investment. However, over the years, many cameras in the sub-$10,000 market, such as the Canon EOS C70, RED KOMODO, Sony FX6/FX3/FX30, gained much traction.
Whether a successor to the Sony FX9 is in the works is still unknown at this point, but B&H is offering two deals on Sony’s flagship professional full-frame cinema camera:
These deals can also be combined with Sony’s 0%, 12/24 month lease financing program, if that interests you. These two deals are available while stock lasts, so don’t wait too long if you’re looking for a Sony PXW-FX9.
What do you think about this B&H discount on the Sony PXW-FX9? Did you already shoot with the FX9? Do you think a new model is around the corner? Don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments down below!
