If you’re planning to get into live video mixing/switching, now is the time. Blackmagic Design has just slashed the price of some of its ATEM Mini Pro switchers: The ATEM Mini Pro is yours for $295 ($200 off), the ISO sells for $495 ($300 off).
Not that these live video switchers/streamers were super expensive, to begin with, but with the new pricing, they’re really quite affordable for what you get in return in terms of features.
However, the top-of-the-line Extreme and Extreme ISO models retain their prices for now ($995 and $1,295, respectively). And remember: These models are HDMI only, for SDI capability you’ll want to look at Blackmagic Design’s ATEM SDI models.
If you are not sure what to do with these HDMI devices, make sure to get a little refresher here.
Otherwise, I think it’s pretty obvious that Blackmagic Design is trying to aggressively sell higher quantities of the aforementioned units here. Or maybe they didn’t sell as well as expected, and therefore a price cut was in order. Or, to give a third possible reason, the supply chains have finally gotten back on track.
Whatever the reason, it’s always nice for us filmmakers to get capable equipment for less money, of course.
Since both ATEM models only support HDMI inputs, perhaps the ATEM SDI models are worth a closer look as well. The entry-level Blackmagic Design ATEM SDI model, which is basically an SDI version of the 4-input ATEM Mini Pro HDMI version, sells for $345, only $50 more than the now price-reduced ATEM Mini Pro.
Both Blackmagic Design ATEM models are available now, and the updated price is already shown over at B&H. I’m sure, CVP will follow suit shortly.
Head over to Blackmagic Design’s website here for more information.
What do you think? Would this price drop get into buying one of these? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
