Blackmagic Design has recently released an update for their 5 and 7” 12G HDR external monitors/recorders. Among a few other enhancements, the Blackmagic Video Assist 3.7 Update introduces support for Blackmagic RAW recording from the newly-released FUJIFILM X-H2S. The update is now available free of charge.
Almost a month ago, FUJIFILM released their APS-C flagship camera, the X-H2S. This new model packs a lot of advanced features in its compact body, such as the ability to record Apple ProRes HQ/422/LT internally in 6.2K at up to 30fps. Moreover, the camera has a full-size HDMI that makes it possible to record 12-bit ProRes RAW and Blackmagic RAW with an external recorder. In case you missed our initial coverage of the X-H2S, you can check it out here, along with the interview we conducted with FUJUFILM.
Now, the Blackmagic Video Assist 5” and 7” 12G HDR are receiving an update that makes them capable of recording Blackmagic’s proprietary RAW format from the FUJIFILM X-H2S. There’s good new for Panasonic LUMIX users too. Let’s take a closer look.
The Blackmagic Video Assist 3.7 Update introduces a couple of bug fixes, along with new interesting features for both FUJIFILM X-H2S and Panasonic LUMIX users. Starting from the X-H2S, HDMI RAW Output on this camera model is supported at the following resolution/frame rate combinations:
Moreover, Panasonic users will also benefit from this new update. Indeed, the Panasonic LUMIX GH5S and BGH1 are now getting adjustable white balance settings, while WB accuracy has been improved for some Panasonic full-frame cameras, including the S1H, S1, S5, and BS1H.
The Blackmagic Video Assist 3.7 Update is now available to download free of charge from the company’s Support Center. Moreover, the Blackmagic Video Assist 5” and 7” 12G HDR are available for purchase from B&H and CVP for $795 and $995 respectively. Finally, the FUJIFILM X-H2S currently retails for $2,499.
