During the cinema5D Virtual Show, we had a conversation with Robert Eagle from Bright Tangerine to talk about the EOS C500 Mark II Left Field Cage and the Bright Tangerine Drumstix titanium rods, that are already available. Also, Rob showed us an exciting new EVF Mount prototype that they are working on. Let’s take a closer look at it!

The Bright Tangerine EOS C500 Mark II Left Field Cage is a lightweight (1kg/2.2lbs), high-quality cage that consists of a base plate, a top plate, and two side brackets. The base plate features an ARRI dovetail receiver.
The nice thing about this Bright Tangerine dovetail design is that you can snap in on and off the dovetail without having to slide your entire camera package through the dovetail. Once your camera is in place, and in the right position, there is a locking lever that secures your rig into place. You can attach two 15mm lightweight rods to the baseplate.
On top of the camera, there is the top plate that features tons of 1/4-20″ and 3/8-16″ mounting threads. Also, in front of the top plate, you’ll find two 15mm rods mounting points as well as a 15mm stud receiver to mount accessories. The top plate comes with a bolt-on top handle, and the top plate can slide back and front for adjusting its position. On the handle itself, there are ARRI spaced 3-8-16″ mounting thread on the side and top.
Finally, two side brackets attach to the top plate and base plate. These side brackets add extra rigidity to the cage and give you an extra layer of camera protection. Also, you can mount accessories to the side brackets via the various 1/4-20″ and 3/8-16″ mounting points.
The Bright Tangerine EOS C500 Mark II Left Field Cage is available now as a Base, Advanced and Expert kit, starting at $987/€832.
The Bright Tangerine Drumstix are camera rods available in various lengths from 3″ to 18″ long. Also, they are available in two standard diameters: 15mm and 19mm. Note that 3″ and 6″ versions are available in 15mm rods only. These Bright Tangerine Drumstix are very light because they are made out of titanium, which is nearly twice as light as stainless steel.
The Bright Tangerine Drumstix are available to buy in single rods or pairs. Pricing-wise, they are close to being the most expensive set of camera rods money can buy. However, when weight matters, money doesn’t, and your shoulders/body will thank you at the end of the day.
What camera cage do you use for the Canon EOS C500 Mark II? Did you ever try the Bright Tangerine Drumstix? Let us know in the comments below!
