CAME-TV has recently released a new camera cage that is specifically designed to wrap around the RED V-RAPTOR’s body. The company has also built two kits around this accessory. They include a V-mount plate, a top handle, and a baseplate. Pricing starts at $298.
The RED V-RAPTOR was first launched in September 2021. The company’s 8K VV flagship model will soon be joined by a studio-oriented edition, the V-RAPTOR XL 8K VV. Moreover, RED announced that an 8K S35 version of the camera is in the works.
Several companies are already offering rigging solutions for the original V-RAPTOR. GDU, 8Sinn, and Tilta were among the first manufacturers to develop hardware accessories for the camera. More recently, they were joined by Ignite Digi and Modern Film Tools. Now, it’s time for CAME-TV to jump on the train with their RAPTOR Camera Cage, Kit, and Rig. Let’s take a closer look.
At the core of this ecosystem is the new CAME-TV RAPTOR Camera Cage, which consists of a top and bottom plate connected via two side plates. The cage is made of CNC-machined aluminum, which should result in a sturdy, lightweight construction.
It offers several 1/4”-20 and 3/8”-16 mounting points all over its surface and screws directly to the camera body. The top plate also comes with a cold-shoe mount at the front as well as an exhaust guard to ensure a good airflow for the V-RAPTOR’s cooling system. Furthermore, the lower part of each side plate features an ARRI-style Rosette that can be useful to attach additional handles or other accessories.
This new cage is also the base of the new CAME-TV RAPTOR Kit and Rig that come with extra accessories for power and rigging. The RAPTOR Kit comes with an additional V-mount plate with an integrated 6-pin LEMO cable that plugs directly into the camera’s power port. The plate screws to the rear side of the top plate and also offers an extra D-Tap output for powering accessories.
Finally, the CAME-TV RAPTOR Rig is the company’s most complete rigging solution for the V-RAPTOR. Indeed, it includes the Camera Cage, rear V-mount plate, a metal top handle with mounting holes, a quick-release baseplate with dual 15mm rod holders, and two 20cm-long rods.
The new CAME-TV RAPTOR Camera Cage ($238), Kit ($338), and Rig ($555) for RED V-RAPTOR are now available for purchase from the manufacturer’s website.
