CP+ 2020 Cancelled Over Coronavirus Fears in Japan

CP+ 2020, one of the largest trade shows for the photo and video industry, is no longer moving forward on February 27th over Coronavirus fears. Details and the official announcement from the organizers is below: 

Japan reported their first death due to coronavirus on Thursday and the country currently has 28 confirmed cases of the rapidly spreading virus in total. According to the CDC, coronavirus is believed to spread by close person-to-person contact (within 6ft) through sneezes and coughs and that’s unfortunately a worse case scenario for a trade show like CP+ that receives about 70,000 visitors annually.

This is just another example of the widespread damage that coronavirus has already inflicted on the global economy. The CP+ 2020 cancellation also follows the cancellation of MWC in Barcelona just a few days ago.

Here is the initial press notification that went out regarding CP+:

Given there is no effective treatment or containment measures to deal
with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), organizers of CP+2020 have decided
to cancel the event due to overall concerns, mainly the risk to the health
and safety of visitors and exhibitors. The event was originally scheduled
to be held over 4 days at PACIFICO Yokohama from February 27.
