DaVinci Resolve 8 Lite - free and finally available

Last year Black Magic Design made their famous color correction software avilable for Mac users. Instead of spending $30,000 for the DaVinci Hardware package people could now get their hands on the $945 software only version.

As a move to get more users on the Mac platform Black Magic Design has now released a free version of the legendary color correction software DaVinci.

The advantage of the DaVinci software package is that you can use one of the greatest professional color grading tools with a 3rd party hardware input panel and save a lot of money that way. Such affordable panels are the Tangent wave which is $1,494 and I have also heard good things about the Euphonix MC Color that also sells for $1,495.

The free DaVinci Resolve Lite includes the same high quality processing as the full DaVinci Resolve, however it limits projects to SD and HD resolutions, two color correction nodes, a single processing GPU and a single RED rocket card. Stereoscopic 3D features, 2K, noise reduction, power mastering, remote grading and sharing projects with an external database server are features only offered in the full DaVinci Resolve and are not included in this free DaVinci Resolve Lite edition.
