DZOFILM 20-55mm and 50-125mm T2.8 Super 35mm Zoom Lenses Introduced

Chinese lens manufacturer DZOFILM has just introduced not one, but two new compact zoom lens to the new “Pictor Zoom” lineup of glasses: the DZOFILM 20-55mm T/2.8 and 50-125mm T/2.8. These zoom lenses are available in either PL or Canon EF mount, they feature a constant T/2.8 aperture through the entire zoom range, and they cover Super35/APS-C sensors. Let’s take a closer look at these affordable, compact run and gun cinema zoom lenses!

DZOFILM

DZOFILM is a Chinese lens manufacturer mostly known for its affordable MFT cinema zoom lenses. We already talked about their previous 20-70mm T2.9 and 10-24mm T2.9 MFT Cine lenses here if you want to learn more about it.

Today, the company is expanding its offer with the new “Pictor Zoom” lineup that covers Super35/APS-C sensors.

DZOFILM 20-55mm T/2.8 and 50-125mm T/2.8 “Pictor Zoom” Features

The Pictor Zoom line of glasses consists of two lenses: the DZOFILM 20-55mm T/2.8 and the 50-125mm T/2.8. Both lenses are available in either Canon EF and PL Mount. These lenses ship with a PL mount with an extra EF mount bayonet in the package. Lens mounts are user interchangeable, which is nice.

Both lenses feature a constant T2.8 stop in all focal lengths. The aperture diaphragm consists of 16 blades, which should give you a nice round and soft bokeh. There are not a lot of information about the lens design, except that “by employing sophisticated optical design, the DZOFILM 20-55mm T/2.8 and 50-125mm T/2.8 feature organic look with crisp details, and achieve high-contrast and neutral color rendition” according to DZOFILM.

However, both lenses feature 0.8mm pitch gear on the focus and aperture ring, with a 270° focus throw of the focus ring. Also, DZOFILM claims that both lenses are parfocal, with minimum focus breathing.

They are made out of metal, and the front outer diameter is 95mm standard for matte boxes. If you don’t want to use a mattebox, you can attach filters directly to the front of the lens, thanks to the 86mm filter thread.

In terms of weight, the DZOFILM 20-55mm T/2.8 is pretty lightweight at around 1.52kg/3.35lbs. The 50-125mm T/2.8 is slightly heavier at around 1.7kg/3.74lbs. In short, these cinema zoom lenses should be great for run and gun shooting scenarios.

Pricing and Availability

The DZOFILM 20-55mm T/2.8 and 50-125mm T/2.8 will be available next week in a black colorway. The 20-55mm retails for $2289, and the 50-125mm is $2489. If you get both lenses as a bundle, you’ll get a $279 discount, and black colorway bundles also should start shipping next week. If you want to get the white versions, they will be sold as a set only for $5399, with a shipping date expected in late July.
