FALCAM recently released a complete F38 quick-release system designed for the DJI RS 3 Mini. The base of this system consists of a cross arm that replaces the gimbal’s original one, so you can now natively attach a FALCAM F38 quick-release plate to the cross arm. So let’s take a closer look at these new accessories!
FALCAM is part of the Ulanzi group and is well-known for its various affordable F22, F38, and F50 quick-release systems. The F22/F38 ecosystems are based on the Arca-Swiss standard, while the F50 is Manfrotto 501-style compatible. Furthermore, the company also makes various cages with built-in F22/F38/F50 quick-release mounting plates.
The DJI RS 3 Mini was released in January 2023, and third-party manufacturers like SmallRig have already come out with dedicated accessories. FALCAM is joining the party with an interesting F38 quick-release upgrade for the DJI RS 3 Mini.
The DJI RS 3 Mini is the smallest gimbal in the company’s lineup, designed to carry mirrorless cameras and lightweight DSLR. Also, similar to the regular RS 3 and RS 3 Pro gimbals, the RS 3 Mini cross arm that supports your camera has no built-in electronic components. The DJI cross arm is basically a piece of metal with an adjustable Arca-Swiss quick-release plate on top of it.
In the FALCAM F38 quick-release ecosystem, this new cross arm will help you lower your camera’s center of gravity compared to the original DJI.
Now let’s talk about numbers. With the FALCAM cross arm, the distance between the cross arm’s top and the quick-release plate’s top will be reduced by 7.5mm/0.3in. While it doesn’t sound like a lot, reducing your camera’s center of gravity by a couple of millimeters can often make a massive difference.
This new cross arm has more clearance if you are using your DSLR or mirrorless camera with a camera cage.
Finally, the specifically designed F38 quick-release base can be attached to the RS 3 Mini vertical arm for vertical shooting.
The FALCAM F38 cross arm for the DJI RS 3 Mini is available now for $29.99. The Mini Base also retails for $39.99; if you need a base and quick-release plate, it’ll cost you $49.99. Finally, the complete cross arm and F38 quick-release plate retails for $86.98.
