Filmsupply recently did an entire website relaunch with a total revamp, which makes finding the perfect shot for your next project easier than ever. This site redesign is built on an entirely new code base with new features like quick view, a new shoots + scenes search option, and one-page checkout. Let’s take a closer look at it!
If you’re new to Filmsupply, this company provides high-end cinematic stock footage. Also, the company is part of Musicbed, which is specialized in stock music. In 2017, we caught up with CEO Daniel McCarthy to talk about Filmsupply during our On The Go series of videos that you can watch here.
Close to six years after the launch of Filmsupply, a website revamp was much needed to bring new features and make filmmakers’ lives easier when trying to find a specific stock shot for a project.
This Filmsupply website revamp/relaunch is all about smoother user experience and ease of use. First of all, it can seem simple, but you now have the option to choose between a light and dark background. This is clever when browsing through hundreds of footage simultaneously.
Next, the team worked on their search engine. Now, when you search a keyword, the results page will display, of course, the type of footage you searched for. You can finesse your search process with a robust selection of intuitive filters. You can save your preferred filters that you want to be applied to your next searches.
When you found an interesting shot, you’ll now have the option to click the “Quick View” button to see inside a collection without ever leaving the browse page.
When looking at a clip, you’ll also have the option to see all relevant and related clips—from the same shoots, scenes, or similar aesthetics/tags. If you’re looking for variations of the same type of shot, this is a convenient feature. You’re now one click away to see all footage that features the same talent from a given clip in various locations.
Finally, if you’re ever revisiting the site, your browser history will be incorporated into your logged-in homepage. But, if you want to save some shots for later, the “wishlists” are now stored under the “my projects” page.
Last but not least, as Filmsupply is not a subscription service but a pay-as-you-go model, the purchase flow has been simplified. Indeed, the checkout is now a one-page process, instead of the previous iteration’s multi-page checkout. When you’re licensing clips for both internal and external use, they’ll be grouped for clarity at a glance.
