FUJIFILM has just introduced a new compact and lightweight macro lens: the FUJINON XF30mm F/2.8 R LM WR. This lens is weather-sealed and has a minimum focusing distance of only 10cm/3.94in. It’ll be available by the end of this month for $599.95.
Few options for macro enthusiasts are available if you’re shooting with a FUJIFILM X-Mount mirrorless camera. Indeed, at the moment, only the XF80mm F/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro is available. But, of course, third-party lens manufacturers like Laowa have 65mm and 100mm T2.9 2x macro APO lenses that can get the job done but without autofocus capabilities.
FUJIFILM has just introduced the FUJINON XF30mm F/2.8 R LM WR Macro to fill a hole in their lens lineup.
The FUJINON XF30mm F/2.8 R LM WR Macro is a fairly lightweight and compact X-mount lens with a weight of only 195g/6.88oz for a length of 6.9cm/2.74in. So the least we can say is that it won’t take up a lot of space in your camera bag!
This lens is designed for APS-C image sensors, giving you a full-frame equivalent close to a 46mm lens. I like lenses close to a full-frame 40/50mm field of view, as it is natural looking and great for portraits. This XF30mm F/2.8 Macro could be an excellent all-around prime lens for various shooting scenarios.
On the inside, the lens uses an Inner Focus system, which means a linear motor moves the lens group. It results in extremely fast focusing performance while remaining smooth and silent.
The XF30mm F/2.8 Macro’s optical design consists of 11 elements in 9 groups. In addition, it includes three aspherical elements and two ED elements to help reduce chromatic/spherical aberrations and field curvature. Also, the lens barrel is sealed in nine places, so the lens is dust- and weather resistant and can shoot in low temperatures up to -10°C/14°F.
The minimum focusing distance is 10cm/3.94in, and the front filter diameter is 43mm.
The FUJINON XF30mm F/2.8 Macro should be available by the end of November 2022 and is priced at $599.95.
