FUJIFILM has just released an interesting accessory for X series mirrorless cameras: the TG-BT1 tripod grip. With YouTube content creators and vloggers in mind, this compact tripod connects via Bluetooth to your camera. In addition, the TG-BT1 gives you wireless camera control with trigger/recording capabilities and a zoom rocker. So let’s take a closer look at it!
You have plenty of accessories to choose from when it comes to vlogging with a compact or mirrorless camera. Sony was one of the first companies to see the true vlogging market potential. Indeed, it’ll be hard to deny the similarities between the Sony GP-VPT2BT wireless remote and the new FUJIFILM TG-BT1 tripod grip. However, it’s always nice when manufacturers build an ecosystem of native accessories for their cameras.
The FUJIFILM TG-BT1 is a compact tripod grip that attaches to the bottom of your camera with one 1/4″-20 screw. The maximum payload capacity – camera and lens – is 1.5kg.
The tripod grip measures 172.3mm/6.78 inches in height (legs retracted) and weighs approximately 205.5 grams without a battery. Indeed, the TG-BT1 is powered via CR2032 batteries.
This grip connects to your camera via Bluetooth, so no cable is needed. Currently, the TG-BT1 is compatible with the FUJIFILM X-T5, X-T4, X-T3, X-T30 II, X-T30, and X-S10. However, please note that you’ll need to update your camera’s firmware to the latest version.
When folded, you can use the TB-BT1 as a short selfie stick, and when you unfold the legs, it turns into a small table tripod. A small button under the camera mounting screw allows you to adjust your camera angle quickly and easily. The TG-BT1 allows the camera angle to be adjusted 180 degrees vertically and 360 degrees horizontally.
At the front of the tripod grip, you’ll find a start/stop record button, a still trigger button, a zoom rocker, and a lock switch. The zoom rocker is compatible with the XF18-120mm F/4 LM PZ WR. In January 2023, FUJIFILM plans to update the compact XC15-45mm F/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ to be compatible with the TG-BT1. Lastly, zoom operation cannot be controlled via the T/W button for the X-T30 II / X-T30.
The FUJIFILM TG-BT1 is dust and moisture-resistant, and it has a nice grip around the tripod legs so your vlogging setup won’t slip out of your hand.
The FUJIFILM TG-BT1 will be available by the end of this month for $199.99.
