FUJIFILM will release free firmware updates for FUJIFILM X100V, FUJIFILM X-T30, and FUJIFILM X-Pro3 at the end of February 2021. The updates will add the ability to use the built-in ND filter for video with the X100V, support for FUJIFILM X Webcam to X100V and X-T30, and a slight usability enhancement to the OVF/EVF for the X-Pro3.
FUJIFILM recently announced the release of free firmware updates for three of its cameras – FUJIFILM X100V, X-T30, and X-Pro3. The update adds new features like support for FUJIFILM X Webcam and more. The firmware updates are coming at the end of February 2021.
Released almost exactly one year ago, the X100V from FUJIFILM combines the 26.1MP APS-C sensor with a fixed FUJINON 23mm (35mm full-frame equivalent) f/2 lens. Thanks to the pancake lens, the camera is very portable weighing at just 1.05 lb (478 g). One of the unique features of the camera is the built-in ND filter. I really wish we could start seeing this in more mirrorless cameras. The X100V records up to DCI 4K30 video internally, but only in 8-bit.
The recently announced free firmware update version 2.00 that will come at the end of February, adds the following functions:
Released already two years ago, the FUJIFILM X-T30, simply put, is a smaller sibling to the X-T3. It offers almost the same features as its larger brother, but in a much smaller body. Johnnie tested the camera with a budget anamorphic setup – you can check it out here.
The new free firmware update version 1.40 will add the following features:
The photo-centric X-Pro3 will also get a free firmware update version 1.20 which will add the possibility to set the Position of the Bright Frame to its Shifted Location in optical viewfinder mode when the shutter button is pressed halfway. This update adds an option to set the camera to remember the Bright Frame’s shifted location. Turning the setting to ON means the camera will not need to readjust the frame’s position every time focus is acquired.
The firmware updates will be available by the end of February 2021 from FUJIFILM Support Webpage.
Do you use any of the above mentioned FUJIFILM cameras? What do you think about the upcoming free firmware update? Do you agree that more cameras should have a built-in variable ND? Let us know in the comments section underneath the article.
