Godox recently launched a small RGBWW LED fixture: the Godox C5R Knowled. This fixture has a built-in battery with a maximum runtime of two hours at 100% brightness and can output 2000 lux at 1ft. Also, it has built-in CCT, HSI, and 39 effects modes. So let’s take a closer look at this budget-friendly accent light!
The Godox Knowled lineup consists mainly of COB LED fixtures such as the M200D/Bi, M600Bi, or the M300Bi that we reviewed. These fixtures are either daylight-only or bi-color but with a focus on high output.
The company recently expanded the Knowled line with a compact panel RGBWW light: the C5R.
The Godox C5R is a compact and lightweight panel light that measures 10.6×6.8×1.8cm with a weight of 169g/5.96oz. This kind of tiny LED light is convenient and does not take up a lot of space in your camera bag. I personally always carry a Godox M1 in my bag – which has very similar features to the C5R – and I can’t tell you how many times this little panel came in handy.
The C5R has a built-in 3.8V/300mAh battery that should give you around two hours at maximum power, according to Godox. You can charge the light via the USB Type-C port, but it also supports wireless charging.
All the controls of the Godox C5R Knowled RGBWW are on the sides. The bottom of the light features a 1/4″-20 mounting point. Furthermore, the back of the fixture is magnetic making it easy to mount the light on any compatible metal surface.
In front of the Godox C5R LED chips, there is a built-in protection/diffusion filter. In the box, you’ll find an additional diffusion filter that clamps in front of the light.
In CCT mode, the Godox C5R Knowled RGBWW can go from 2500 up to 8500K. According to Godox, it has a CRI of 96 and a TLCI of 97. If you switch to HSI mode, you’ll be able to create any color you want. Lastly, the C5R comes with 39 built-in cinematic FX effects.
In terms of light output, the C5R has a maximum brightness of 2.000 lux at a distance of 1ft/30cm and 200 lux at 3ft/1m when set at 6.500K. Of course, this is not much, but not unusual for compact LED panels.
Last but not least, like every modern LED light, you can control the C5R Knowled RGBWW wirelessly via the free Godox Light app. In addition, you can create groups and control multiple lights together, which is helpful.
The Godox C5R Knowled RGBWW is available now for $89. It comes with a 1/4″-20 to cold-shoe mount, a USB-C to USB-A cable, a diffuser, and a small carrying pouch.
