The Canon 7D was released in fall 2009. Now it gets a substantial firmware update that also affects movie recording.
The Firmware just announced by Canon is called Firmware 2.0 and will be available for download in August 2012.
Aside from a lot of RAW handling improvements and more ISO to the photo side of the DSLR, it will be getting manual audio controls. During movie recording? The press release doesn’t say. This would definitely be something that has proven very convenient on the 5D mark III.
Together with Mosaic Engineering’s moiré and aliasing filter this will make the Canon 7D a competitive HDSLR once again. We will have a review on this filter tomorrow.
Technical:– 16 bit, 48khz, 64 step manual audio control
