The Film and Digital Times is reporting a new practical bulb from cinema light manufacture Kino Flo. The new fluorescent bulbs are color temperature correct in either 3200k (Tungsten) or 5600K (Daylight). This will be a killer addition to any cinematographer’s kit. Trying to match up practical bulbs with cinema lights was always a drag. Now we have a very cost effective way for light to play in the scene. The new Kino Flo bulbs draw 27W and output 100W equivalent. The only drawback is that they are not dimmable. The estimated retail price for each bulb will be around $14 US.
