Laowa recently announced that its Laowa 11mm F/4.5 FF RL would be available in Canon RF-Mount. Also, the Laowa 65mm F/2.8 2x Ultra-Macro APO will be available in Nikon Z-Mount.
Laowa continues to unveil some of its – already available – lenses with new lens mounts. Indeed, earlier this month, they already launched four L-Mount lenses for Panasonic shooters. The company recently announced that two lenses will receive extra lens mounts: the wide-angle Laowa 11mm F/4.5 FF RL in Canon RF-Mount, and the Laowa 65mm F/2.8 2x Ultra-Macro APO in Nikon Z-Mount.
The Laowa 11mm F/4.5 FF RL is a compact (6.3cm/2.5 inches long) really wide-angle lens (126° FoV) that was announced last year. This lens covers full-frame sensors, and has a minimum focusing distance of only 19cm/7.4”. With a weight of only 254g/8.9oz, it won’t take up much space nor weight in your camera bag.
The lens design consists of 14 elements in 10 groups. Also, the Laowa 11mm F/4.5 FF RL has two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements to keep a good balance between sharpness, reduce chromatic aberrations, and keep barrel distortion to the minimum. Finally, it has a 62mm filter thread to attach filters in front of the lens.
The lens is now available in six different lens mounts: Nikon Z, Panasonic L, Sony FE, Leica M black/silver, and Canon RF-Mount.
The Laowa 65mm F/2.8 2x Ultra-Macro APO was also launched in 2020 and will now be available in Nikon Z-Mount. As a quick reminder, this lens covers APS-C sensors and was initially available in three different versions – for Sony E, FUJIFILM X, and Canon EF-M lens mount.
The Laowa 65mm F/2.8 2x Ultra-Macro APO, as its name suggests, offers a 2:1 maximum magnification ratio. The minimum focusing distance is only 6.7”/17cm.
This is a pretty lightweight lens at only 335g/11.8oz with the length of 10cm. The lens design consists of 14 elements in 10 groups, with three extra-low dispersion glass for maximum sharpness and minimal chromatic aberration.
The Laowa 11mm F/4.5 FF RL in Canon RF-Mount retails for $699.00. The Laowa 65mm F/2.8 2x Ultra-Macro APO in Nikon Z-Mount is $399. Both lenses are available to order now.
