Litepanels Gemini 1×1 Hard is a new RGBWW LED panel with 3,000 lux maximum daylight output at 3m (10ft) with a 46° beam angle. The white output of 2,700-10,000K has a high CRI/TLCI 98. There is full RGB control of over 16 million colors, 300 gels, and 11 customizable special effects. The light comes with Ultra-Light and Domed Diffusers and costs $2,250.
The 1×1′ fixture size has been quite popular among filmmakers lately as it combines high output with compact size. Apart from Litepanels (a Vitec Group brand that produces a number of different 1×1 and 2×1 lights such as the Astra line or the Gemini line), we have recently seen the Rotolight Titan X1 coming out – check our review to learn more about the light. In the Litepanels Gemini line itself, the Gemini 1×1 Soft Light was announced in April 2019. Now, after over two years, the company just announced a new Gemini 1×1 Hard LED fixture. Let’s take a short look at its features and specs.
There are two main aspects that Litepanels takes pride in when it comes to the new panel – brightness and accuracy. The company claims that the new 1×1 Hard is the brightest 1×1 LED light ever. It can output 3,000 lux at 3m (10ft) daylight with a 46° beam angle. Like all LED panels in the Gemini range, the new light produces accurate full-spectrum white light as well as full RGB output and a range of built-in effects.
The higher output is possible because each individual LED (red, green, blue, tungsten, and daylight) has its own lens to concentrate the output forward. According to Litepanels, the individual separation of LEDs also helps heat dissipation and allows the high output to be maintained for a longer period of time. The output is dimmable between 0.1 – 100% and it is always flicker-free at any frame rate or shutter angle.
The Gemini 1×1 Hard has a maximum draw of 200W but produces an output 20% brighter than a 200W HMI, according to Litepanels. The white output is available between 2,700K and 10,000K with a high CRI and TLCI of 98. The panel also offers full RGB control of over 16 million colors with HSI (hue, saturation, and intensity) control and plus/minus green color correction. There are also 300 gels and 11 customizable special effects to choose from.
The panel weighs 6kg (13.2lb) including the yoke and power supply. The Ultra-Light and Domed Diffusers are supplied as standard with the fixture. In addition to its onboard controls, the 1×1 Hard offers a broad range of control options, including DMX, RDM, wireless DMX, and Bluetooth. The panel can be powered with 100-240V AC cable or with the DC 13-33V input. Litepanels offers single or dual battery plates for the light with V-Mount, Gold Mount, or Gold Mount+ interface. The good thing is that the light is able to get to 100% output with battery power.
Litepanels Gemini 1×1 Hard Light is available now for $2,250 (around €1,850 plus VAT in Europe).
