Matthews Infinity Arm – A Heavy-Duty Articulated Arm

The Infinity Arm was originally introduced by Sage Seb via a Kickstarter campaign back in 2014, and it was quite successful back then. A couple of years later, Matthews Studio Equipment (MSE) teams up with Sage Seb to produce a refined version of the original Infinity Arm.

The Matthews Infinity Arm

The concept of articulated arms is not new, but this particular device is a fresh approach to the problem. The Infinity Arm is a bit shorter than an ordinary articulated arm, but it is very heavy-duty for sure. With the help of the Matthews engineers, the Infinity Arm is even more robust than the original one from the Kickstarter campaign.

It is everything an arm should be. Our engineering department worked with Sage to refine the Infinity Arm and make it ready for introduction at NAB 2016.

Matthews claims that the Infinity Arm is the strongest articulated cine arm out there with a weight capacity of 15-32lbs depending on the configuration. The two identically build sections of the arm are capable of a 360° range of movement and the Infinity Arm sports interchangeable, ball-in-socket, quick release tips for adding and removing accessories quickly and efficiently. This is a useful feature since it gives you the ability to quickly put on the perfect tool for your given application.

There are accessories available for every application

For example, you can add a dedicated metal GoPro mount on the one side of the arm and a Mini Matthellini Clamp on the other side to mount a GoPro to a post – rock solid.

The Infinity Arm with a GoPro mount on one side and a so-called Baby Pin on the other (which is mounted to a super clamp).

The Infinity Arm delivers ease of mind with a redundant locking system. In addition to the trigger release, the tip must be pushed down all the way in order to remove it. That way, the tip can’t come loose by accident and you can be sure that your expensive camera rig won’t fall off when in underslung operation.

There is no word on pricing and availability of the Infinity Arm as of yet, but it is already listed on the MSE website.
