Megadap recently released a new lens mount adapter, the EFTZ21, which allows you to mount Canon EF lenses to Nikon Z cameras. This adapter is compatible with all Nikon Z cameras, including full-frame and APS-C models. Also, the EFTZ21 has electronic contacts so you can adjust your aperture via your camera, and you’ll also benefit from autofocus capabilities. So, let’s take a closer look at it!
Chinese manufacturer Megadap specializes in creating innovative lens mount adapters, especially for the Nikon Z system. Indeed, we previously reported about the Megadap ETZ11 Sony E to Nikon Z adapter and the upgraded third-generation ETZ21 Pro.
Megadap is back with a new lens mount adapter, the EFTZ21, for adapting Canon EF lenses to Nikon Z cameras.
The EFTZ21 is a compact lens mount adapter that allows you to mount Canon EF lenses to your Nikon Z camera. It is compatible with all Nikon Z cameras, including the Nikon ZF, ZFC, Z30, Z50, Z5, Z6, Z6 ii, Z7, Z7 ii, Z8, and Z9 cameras.
You’ll find a user-assignable control ring on the adapter to adjust your aperture, ISO, exposure compensation, etc. Also, there is a Function button that you can customize to lock your focus or exposure, for example.
The EFTZ21 is compatible with full-frame and APS-C lenses and third-party Canon EF lenses from Tamron, SIGMA, ZEISS, Samyang, Laowa, and more.
According to Megadap, the EFTZ21 is dustproof and waterproof, so you should maintain some continuity if your lens and camera are, too.
However, the main selling point of this adapter is that, since it has electronic contact points, you’ll maintain control over your Canon EF lens’ electronic aperture while also benefiting from autofocus capabilities. Megadap claims that the EFTZ21 supports Face Detection, Eye-AF, pinpoint autofocus, and AF-S/AF-C/AF-F modes.
For filmmakers, the EFTZ21 is also compatible with the video mode and supports autofocus. Of course, you can always turn the autofocus off via the AF/MF switch on your lens.
However, there are still some limitations, as you can’t hot-swap your Canon EF lens when the camera is on; you’ll need to turn the camera off before unmounting/mounting a new lens.
The Megadap EFTZ21 is available now for $299.
