Meike 24mm T2.1 Full-Frame Cine Lens Announced

MEIKE is one step closer to completing an affordable, full-frame Cine lens set with the release of the Meike 24mm T2.1 Full-Frame Cine Lens. This fourth full-frame Cine lens joins the previous releases of Meike’s 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm T2.1 lenses that offer stunning image quality at a great price.

Meike 24mm T2.1 Cine Lens Specs

Just like the previous releases, the Meike 24mm Cine Prime features the same T2.1 aperture, 11 blade iris for a nice creamy bokeh, 330° focus rotation, and 82mm filter thread.

The whole point of using a lens set is consistency, and that is something Meike has been able to do very well with their FF Cine lenses. Not only does this lens share the same physical dimensions as its older brothers, but the image quality and color rendition also match well. This will ultimately help your edits appear less jarring, and save time and money in color grading in final post.

According to Meike, this line of full-frame Cine lenses is designed for 8K image acquisition. The Meike 24mm Cine Prime is compatible with the Canon C700/C500 II, Sony VENICE, Alexa LF, and all other full-frame cameras. It produces a 45mm image circle.

Meike Cine Lens Road Map

If you’re a Meike Cine Prime shooter, you are now that much closer to having a full set. As previously mentioned by my colleagues’ articles about Meike’s 35mm & 85mm releases, Meike has provided a roadmap for the release of their complete Cine lens set.

Though some of the release dates have shifted, they intend to release 3 more full-frame Cine lenses very soon. Their 16mm T2.5, 105mm T2.1, and 135mm T2.4 were originally slated to be released before the end of summer 2021, but they’re very much still in the pipeline. We’re eagerly waiting to see them hit the market, too.

Competition

A lot of new Cine lenses being released from Chinese manufacturers have been hitting the market over the last several years. DZOFILM’s Vespid Cine Prime lenses are likely the biggest competition for Meike.

Although we have not compared the lenses ourselves, the chef advantage that DZOFILM Vespid Primes have over Meike is a slightly larger 46.5mm image circle and the fact that their entire line is already on the market. Vespid Primes are also priced a bit higher at approximately $1,399 per lens – around $400 more than Meike.

The Meike 24mm T2.1 Full Frame Cine Lens is available for pre-order on their website for $1,199. The estimated shipping date is in late November.
