We interview Scott Emerton of MZed to learn how it began, and what’s coming up. Find out more about the get one give one membership offer.
It is a little known fact that the roots of MZed as an educational platform, go back to the 1960’s, long before the internet. The MZ in MZed in fact stand for Monte Zucker, one of the world’s best known and most loved portrait photographers. Monte was also known for his love of sharing knowledge with others, and this is the core guiding principle behind what we see of MZed today.
In our interview with Scott Emerton, you’ll find out what goes into looking for the right talent for an MZed course. Finding instructors who are comfortable on both sides of the camera, and are at the top of their particular niche is what makes the MZed courses some of the best you will find.
We’ve reported before on Directing Color, Ollie Kenchington’s DaVinci Resolve color grading course, as well as his courses Mastering Color, and The Definitive Guide to DaVinci Resolve. Of course there is also Phillip Bloom’s Filmmaking for Photographers and Cinematic Masterclass.
There is also Shane Hurlbut’s Experience Lighting Masterclass, and even the official ARRI Certified Online Training for Camera Systems, a multi-day course I took in person in Munich only a couple years ago, which is now online for everyone from anywhere. The range of courses from educators and creative professionals that are all at the top of their fields can’t really be matched on any other platform.
Have you checkout out any MZed courses already? Will you be taking up this offer? Let us know what you think in the comments.
