Hot on the heels of the Canon C200 announcement, Panasonic has finally disclosed more details about their modestly-priced new camera, the Panasonic AU-EVA1. The “mystery camera” we reported on during NAB 2017 has become something very realistic and interesting indeed!
It’s Cine Gear Expo time here at the Paramount studios in Los Angeles and Panasonic’s Mitch Gross has seized the opportunity to disclose many more details about their new EVA1 camera. Let us share with you what we currently know:

The camera will cost under $8000 (body only) and will be available during Fall later this year.
As we can see, within the Panasonic video product line, the new EVA1 sits comfortably between the new GH5 and Varicam LT. Price-wise, will be competing head to head with the new Canon C200 and the first-generation Sony FS7. Specifications and features like size, light weight, 5.7K sensor, 4K60p (2K up to 240p), dual native ISO and a robust video codec up to 400 Mbps will surely appeal to many independent filmmakers. As a side note, in regards to the Dual Native ISO feature, Nela Pertl – Panasonic’s Europe/Middle East/Africa Marketing Manager – has said that the camera is currently being tested to determine final ISO specifications.
