Samyang has announced the release of their 4th V-AF hybrid cinema lens for Sony E-Mount cameras, the Samyang V-AF 45mm T1.9 FE. This release adds to the already available V-AF lineup of 24mm, 35mm, and 75mm. These hybrid cinema lenses all feature the same consistent size and weight, T1.9 aperture, and 300° manual focus rotation. Let’s take a closer look at this new lens and see what’s coming next for the V-AF lineup.
Samyang’s V-AF hybrid cinema lenses are a new series of Sony E-Mount lenses for filmmakers with a built-in M0.8 industry-standard focus ring and autofocus capabilities. Last fall, the company announced the creation of the new lineup, which includes a 20mm, 24mm, 35mm, 45mm, and 75mm lens. The Samyang V-AF 45mm T1.9 FE is the 4th lens to hit the market, with the 20mm V-AF expected by Q4 2023.

According to Samyang, the V-AF Series is the world’s first Cine autofocus lens for video creators, designed to make video content creation more convenient.
The Samyang V-AF lineup consists of five prime lenses specifically designed for filmmakers. The lenses have the same maximum aperture, physical size and weight, and unified color rendition. According to the company, this configuration makes them an ideal prime lens for anyone filming with Sony E-Mount cameras on a gimbal.
The V-AF 45mm T1.9 FE expands the existing lineup of the V-AF series to 4 lenses: 24mm, 35mm, 45mm, and 75mm.
The Samyang V-AF 45mm T1.9 FE is available for pre-order now on Samyang’s website and is priced at $649. The 24mm, 35mm, and 75mm are available now at B&H, and cost between $649 to $699.

These lenses look like they are a fantastic option for Sony shooters who want a consistent prime lens set that can be used for manual and autofocus alike. I only wish they were available in RF mount!
