There has been quite a bit of buzz around the Sony FS7 camera since Sony announced it at IBC in September – we got the full scoop in an exclusive hands-on I had weeks before that with the camera in London (Click here to watch it in case you missed it).
The excitement about the camera is based on how much $8,000 will buy you: a Super35mm 4K CMOS sensor, recording in various XAVC 4K codecs internally on XQD cards, in a relatively small package that even sits on the shoulder well without additional accessories.
Now Sony launched a competition for filmmakers to win an FS7. The best mini documentary will be rewarded with the camera, and I am happy to be on the jury alongside fellow shooters Den Lennie, Tom Swindell, Pol Turrents and Gabi GarcÃa.
Head over to Sony Europe’s dedicated page for the competition to register and submit your work. We’ll be on the watch-out for great documentaries …
