The top handle is positioned next to the rails instead of behind them, as we saw in the Chrosziel version of a handheld rig. The Vocas solution allows easy application of an LCD loupe. The Z-Finder and the LCDVF both fit well.

Although there is very little space, everything fits onto the rails, even when using a small lens. The rails are 35cm long and made of high quality aluminum. We think it is the perfect length for rails with this rig, we tried them with a 11mm Tokina lens and they wouldn’t enter our frame. The long rails come with the shoulder bracket and Bas says:
“As prices are now, all rails cost 40 euro a pair. We have several lengths available, those will be added to the website shortly.” (47,60 inc taxes)

The leather handles feel very comfortable, they provide sufficient grip and the construction of the handle articulation allows for a quick adjustment with only one hand. That is because of the teeth that are built into the articulation, which make it possible to open the screw, adjust the angle and close the screw again. All with one hand, without it flopping around.

As mentioned in part one of the review we really liked Vocas’ solution of clips instead of thumbscrews for attaching stuff to the rails. You can easily open and lock down everything on your rig in a matter of seconds. It took us about fivr seconds to close eight clip points without rehearsal.

When using the follow focus we realized it works very well by using just your thumb while holding onto the handle.
We wish there was more grip on the focus knob. Also, it’s hard to reach the focus knob when you have smaller hands because the handle articulation point gets in the way.
We don’t know how, but it would be cool if the handles were a little bit more flexible.
