Vocas Handheld Setup
We were pretty disappointed when we realized that most of the gear we tested in this review is not up to the task of being a DSLR rig, but the Vocas rig really made our day. A good word to describe this rig is “Perfect”.
Although we don’t know how well this one will work once the counterweight is available it has already surprised, convinced and satisfied us with so many details that we award it unanimously, with the editors choice award of this entire review. The Vocas brand has earned our DSLR trust we must say.
Unfortunately, the value of this gear comes at a price. Many people won’t be able to afford it and we suggest you look into the DvTec rig we also tested here. It is the cheapest yet second best contestant and we can recommend it.
The Vocas rig is expensive but it will satisfy more people than just professionals. It is lightweight and a great device that makes your DSLR ready for serious handheld filming and it has speed unlike any rig we’ve tested. It receives the C5D EDITOR’S CHOICE award.
Handheld extensions are sold without follow focus, base plate, or matte box.
Price (without follow focus, baseplate or matte box):
We’re a little uncertain about the price of the Vocas gear. We received prices by Vocas in € but they’re selling everything through resellers and it was hard to get a quote from one of the American resellers, he didn’t supply a quote for the Topside Handle.
