The Tilta Camera Cage for DJI Action 2 enhances this new action camera with a complete, innovative system. Tilta’s cage adds multiple mounting points, magnetic lens filters, and shock absorbs to eliminate micro jitters. Let’s take a closer look at their new, innovative design.
DJI announced the tiny, modular Action 2 camera just a short time ago with features that best any offering from GoPro. It is rugged, waterproof, and can record in 4K at up to 120fps! Check out our extensive video review here and our coverage of the DJI Action 2 camera for a breakdown of its full specs.
The Tilta Camera Cage for DJI Action 2 is just as modular as the camera itself. Its formfitting design installs around the camera with a simple snap-on lock. This allows the Action 2 to be quickly and securely put in place or removed easily.
It features a waterproof external power input to extend the Action 2’s runtime while in the cage. This USB-C power input is positioned at the rear of the cage, making the camera system more suitable for complex shooting situations.
The DJI Action 2 camera offers expandability through external, magnetic modules that provide additional power, or a front facing touchscreen. And, the Tilta Camera Cage is easily able to accommodate those modules.
The top plate of Tilta’s system can be swapped, and an additional half-cage can be added to protect the camera-module pair. This cage design also allows the external USB-C input to power both devices.
The formfitting cage is the first level of protection that Tilta has designed for the DJI Action 2, and it is only step one. Tilta also designed a layer 2, shock-absorbing cage that surrounds the formfitting, modular cage.
Shock absorbers screw into the four corners of the formfitting cage, leaving it perfectly suspended in the middle. This design promises to eliminate micro jitters during high-speed shooting scenarios while providing more mounting points.
Tilta also plans to release a set of magnetic lens filters for the DJI Action 2 camera.
Tilta has yet to release pricing information for their DJI Action 2 cage or magnetic filter set. For more information and updates, visit Tilta’s website.
