Tilta released a handy camera accessory: a foldable Arca baseplate. This baseplate allows you to flip your camera from vertical to horizontal within seconds without any tools. So, let’s take a closer look at it!
Apart from camera cages, wireless follow-focus, matte boxes, and camera car rigs, to list a few, Tilta constantly releases small camera accessories to make the lives of content creators and filmmakers easier.
With the rise of social media content, shooting vertical content has been a common client request for most of us. Whether you are shooting on sticks, a gimbal, or handheld, we all know how tricky it can be to mount your camera vertically. To solve that problem and save you time on set, Tilta released the foldable Arca baseplate.
The Tilta foldable Arca baseplate is made of aluminum and weighs only 69g/2.45oz. It measures 12,7 x 8,89 x 7,62cm/5 x 3.5 x 3in. Also, with a maximum payload capacity of 3kg/6.6 lbs, it is primarily designed for mirrorless or small cinema cameras such as the Sony FX3/FX30.
At the bottom of the baseplate, you’ll find a built-in four-way Arca-Swiss standard quick-release mount. At the center of the mount is a 3/8″-16 threaded hole with a 3/8″-16 to 1/4″-20 adapter, so you can attach another quick release to it if you’re not in the Arca ecosystem. According to Tilta, the baseplate is compatible with DJI’s gimbal Arca receiver and tripods.
On top of the baseplate, you’ll find a 1/4″-20 screw that attaches to the bottom of your camera. On the side of the foldable Arca baseplate is a button to flip the top part 90° sideways. However, please note that there are no intermediate positions between 0 (horizontal) and 90° (vertical).
The Tilta foldable Arca baseplate retails for $16 and should start shipping at the end of March 2024.
