Ryan Avery from Schneider Optics gave me this very useful two stage filter holder with 77mm insert ring and Schneider 4 X 4 Circular Polarizer to give away to a lucky Cinema5D viewer at Cine Gear Expo 2010. (See Video). This is one cool combo kit. I have always hated using a heavy lens mount matte box and screw on filters can be a pain. This is a great way to mount square filters quickly and without too much strain on the lens mount. Here is a little info about the setup.
“Schneider Optics is pleased to offer the new 4” Filter Holder. Manufactured in partnership with Lee Filters, the 4” Filter Holder is made to hold Schneider Motion Picture and Television 4mm thick water-white Schott glass filters that are available in 4×4 and 4×5.65 sizes. The holder rotates a full 360 degrees enabling the use of Polarizers or graduated filters, and can accommodate up to two glass filters.” “Schneider offers a circular True-Pol Polarizing filter for cameras which use polarizing elements in the beam-splitters of the viewing system, such as ARRI 435 and the Movie-Cam Compact. This filter may also be required on certain high definition video cameras with complex optical blocks such as the Sony PMW-EX1, PMW-EX3, and PDW-700 which polarize the red an blue channels more than other cameras and therefore require a circular polarizer to prevent cross polarization and associated color shift in the image.”
