VILTROX AF 75mm f/1.2 XF Pro lens is a new fast autofocus portrait prime lens for FUJIFILM X-mount cameras. It features a weather-sealed body, 77mm front filter thread, and a minimum focus distance of 0.88m (2.89ft). The lens can be pre-ordered on December 28, 2022, for $549.
This year, FUJIFILM showed a lot of love to the APS-C X-mount line of cameras and unveiled multiple interesting models. In fact, the newest addition – FUJIFILM X-H2 – got awarded with CineD’s camera of the year award.
On top of FUJIFILM’s own lenses, there are a few third-party companies that produce autofocus lenses for the system. One of them is the Chinese lens and camera accessories manufacturer VILTROX. The company recently announced a new prime lens for FUJIFILM X-mount cameras and it sounds quite good on paper – 75mm f/1.2. Could this lens be a new bokeh king for FUJIFILM cameras?
The new VILTROX lens for FUJIFILM X cameras sports a very fast aperture that goes from f/1.2 to an f/16. Thankfully, there is a physical aperture ring on the lens. VILTROX did not specify this, but I expect the ring to be clicked – have fixed stops. The focal length of 75mm makes it a 112.5mm full-frame equivalent lens, so I expect it to work well for portraits and general close-up shots.
Optically, the VILTROX AF 75mm f/1.2 XF Pro lens consists of 16 elements in 11 groups and it sports an HD Nano multi-layer coating. The lens produces a 28.4mm image circle which is just enough to cover the APS-C sensors of FUJIFILM cameras. The minimum focusing distance (close focus) of the lens is 0.88m (2.89ft).
VILTROX also claims the lens is optimized for video shooting, but they do not specify how exactly. There is no optical image stabilization, so I think the lens will especially shine on FUJIFILM cameras that have IBIS (in-body image stabilization). According to VILTROX, the lens offers a precise and fast autofocusing system powered by an STM motor.
When it comes to the lens body, there is a three-layer protection to provide weather-sealing (moisture and dust). VILTROX, however, did not specify the exact IP rating. Circular filters can be mounted on the 77mm front filter thread. There is no information on the weight and dimensions of the lens, but judging from the specs and the few on-camera images, I expect it to be rather on the heavier & bulky side.
There is currently no information on whether the lens will also come to other lens mounts.

Interestingly enough, VILTROX announced that there will be a limited amount of these lenses – 50 pieces – available for pre-order on December 28, 2022, at 19:00 (UTC/GMT+8). I suppose this pre-order will only be possible at the VILTROX online store directly. The price of the lens during the pre-order will be $549. Outside of this limited pre-order event, there is no further information on pricing and availability.
Do you use VILTROX lenses for your video and photography? What do you think of the image quality and usability of these lenses? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section underneath the article.
