Vimeo launched Vimeo Stock in September 2018, and less than a year later, there are already more than 1 million clips in its library. Today, they announce Vimeo Stock Essentials, which is a collection of over a thousand clips, that every Vimeo Plus/Pro/Business member can download for free.

Last September, Vimeo Stock launched. The Vimeo approach as a stock footage platform is different from the rest. What they do is sourcing and licensing footage directly from Vimeo’s creators. While it looks like quite a few creators left Vimeo due to new regulations, it seems like Vimeo Stock is going strong. Even more, they also licensed over a million clip in less than a year.
So how does Vimeo Stock work? You pay a one-time license fee to use stock footage in your video projects. All the stock clips are royalty-free, and you can use them in any project you want. In terms of prices, HD clips start at €48, while 4K clips start at €136. If you are a paid member, you can save 20% on every clip.

Vimeo Essentials is a new “free” collection launched recently. Anyone with a Plus membership or higher can now enjoy unlimited access to over a thousand free clips. They value this deal at over $60,000 worth of stock royalty-free footage. Like every other clip downloaded on the Stock platform, you can use these in any project you want.
The type of footage in the Essentials collection is pretty diverse. There are samples of nearly every kind of clips to get you started, from transitions to establishing drone shots of a city, from standard crowd shots to CGI landscapes. If you already have a paid membership, it’s an excellent addition. You can take a look at the Vimeo Essentials collection directly here.
