An increasing number of cameras now offer dual SD card slots. To cut down media offloading times, Taiwanese company Wise Advanced recently launched the WA-DSD05, a new Dual-Slot UHS-II SD Memory Card Reader. Providing transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps, it will be available starting mid-July 2021.
There are multiple purposes of having dual SD card slots in a camera such as simultaneous recording for backup, expanding storage space, shooting videos on one card, and stills images on the other. Whatever the reason, having two SD cards to offload can be time-consuming, especially if you only own an SD card reader with a single slot.
For this reason, Wise Advanced is now expanding their Dual-Slot memory card readers lineup by introducing the WA-DSD05. This Dual-Slot UHS-II SD memory card reader allows you to transfer your media simultaneously from two SD cards: a helpful tool when dealing with RAW images or high-frame rate 4K videos.
Wise Advanced promises transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps using this new reader. This is made possible by the USB3.2 Gen 2 interface as well as by the advanced chips used in the device. These allow maximizing transfer speeds even when two cards are being offloaded at the same time. The reader uses a USB Type-C port.
This new Dual-Slot UHS-II SD Memory Card Reader features a sleek 65.5x70x20 mm aluminum case. This material keeps the reader lightweight (55g) and helps with cooling to prevent your media from overheating.
The new Wise Advanced WA-DSD05 Dual-Slot UHS-II SD Memory Card Reader is up for pre-order at B&H for a reasonable price of $64.40. It should be available in mid-July 2021 and comes with a standard 2-years warranty.
