A while ago, SmallHD announced PageOS 6, their first major update in two years. The update, free for SmallHD monitor owners, features increased functionality, more customization, and a more intuitive user interface for a better workflow. But there’s more than just that, so let’s look at it!
SmallHD, the company specializing in monitoring solutions for filmmakers and founded in 2009, last month announced PageOS 6, a significant update focused on major enhancements to customization and flexibility, improving color processing and adding new calibration tools. This one comes two years after their previous major update, PageOS 5.
PageOS 6 features new tools like Fleet Control, a redesigned Color Pipe, Wi-Fi support, Handheld Multi-view, support for new dials, and expanded control of function buttons, among other improvements.
The new Fleet Control App allows the user to control one or more monitors simultaneously, matching their settings, managing signal and feeds, LUTs, Color Pipes, etc. The app can be installed on a tablet or computer and works via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
On-screen visibility has improved with the new Color Pipe interface, making it easier to check settings and speeding up the overall workflow. Users can apply the tool on top of any preloaded 3D LUT in Color Pipe thanks to Pomfort Livegrade integration. The new press-and-hold feature lets us access different functions by holding down a function button.
Other new improvements are the Custom Exposure Assist, offering control for black clip, white clip, and middle grey. The support of Wi-Fi functionality on SmallHD monitors with off-the-shelf Wi-Fi adaptors and Handheld Multi-view allows SmallHD Ultra 7 Monitors to display multiple feeds in multi-camera environments via HDMI, SDI, or Internal Bolt 6.
PageOS 6 is the next step in the evolution of SmallHD monitors, with our enhanced functionality and customization for a seamless experience. With features like Fleet Control and a redesigned Color Pipe, you can achieve unparalleled efficiency and precision in your workflow. I believe PageOS 6 elevates creative control, ensuring SmallHD remains at the forefront of professional monitoring technology.Greg Smokler, VP of Cine Product at Creative Solutions
