I’m currently working on a tv ad where a certain eyelight (white reflection in eyes) is key. You might not love LEDs (I know I don’t) for their bad color spectrum (CRI value), multi shadow casting and non controllable output (I admit I really don’t love em that much), in fact the ring light in the video above is NOT an LED, it’s fluorescent!A ring light creates a very beautiful eyelight in the form of a ring and in addition gives you a nice, kind of soft, front filling. Add some slightly softened (softing is always good for video) backlight and you have a very quick and professional looking lighting situation.
