Sony’s successful A7 family keeps growing and the new comer is the A7II. Equipped with a new 5-axis image stabilisation to compensate for five types of camera shake during handheld shooting of still images and movies plus a newly developed auto focus system which claimed to be 30% faster in response from the original one, it will be interesting to see how well it does act in “real life”.
Other features which might be interesting for video professional are:Â
-XAVC S codec (It enables Full HD (1920 x 1080) image recording at 50Mbps (60p/50p, 30p/25p, 24p)-Lock on AF tracking-7 different picture profiles-S LOG 2  gamma settings-Time code/ User bit-Easy button customisation-Robust lens mount (many people were complaining about the original A7/A7r mount which was not strong enough to hold heavy lenses).-Clear HDMI output (1080 60i compatible device 1920 × 1080 (60p/24p) / 1920 × 1080 (60i), YCbCr 4:2:2 8bit / RGB 8bit, 1080 50i compatible device 1920 × 1080 (50p) / 1920 × 1080 (50i), YCbCr 4:2:2 8bit / RGB 8bit)
At that point it is unclear how comparable the new camera is to the A7s when it comes to video quality. Â Let’s hope that it will be the same if not better then the A7s…
